Vacation rental website design for direct bookings

A booking site guests trust, synced with the channel manager you already run.
Vacation rental home with a lit porch and a pool at dusk, the kind of property a vacation rental website design should sell

Good vacation rental website design does one thing: it gets guests to book with you instead of paying a platform fee on every stay. Most host sites can't do that. The calendar is out of date, the booking button sends people back to the listing site, and nothing about the page makes a guest feel safe paying a company they found on Google. We build direct booking websites that pull real availability and rates from your channel manager, take the booking and the payment on your own site, and look as trustworthy as the platforms guests already know. If you have a handful of homes, a builder may be enough, and we'll tell you so.

What we build

Websites like Airbnb, built for your own rentals

Vacation rental management companies

A site for every home you manage, with search by dates, guests, and location, and one checkout that books whichever property the guest picks.

Hosts with a few homes

A branded site for a small portfolio, where repeat guests book direct and pay less, and you keep the fee the platform would have taken.

Resort and destination rentals

Condos, villas, and cabins in one destination, with area guides, seasonal pricing, and add-ons like early check-in or equipment rental.

Boutique hotels and inns

A small number of rooms or suites, sold with the same instant booking and secure payment guests expect from a big hotel brand.

Owner-facing sites for property managers

A page that wins new homeowners: your services, your results, and an owner login where they see bookings and payouts for their home.

Multi-host rental marketplaces

When you want many hosts on one platform, each managing their own listings. That is a marketplace build, covered on our multi-vendor marketplace page.

What's included

What a custom site adds over a vacation rental website builder

Live availability and rates

Calendars, nightly rates, minimum stays, and fees pulled from Hostaway, Guesty, OwnerRez, or another channel manager through its API, so the site never sells a night that's already booked.

Instant booking and payment

Guests pick dates, see the full price with every fee, and pay on your site through Stripe. Deposits, balances, and refunds follow your own policy.

Search by dates and guests

For portfolios: a search that only shows homes free for the guest's dates, with filters for bedrooms, pets, pools, and location, and a map view.

Trust built into the page

Verified reviews pulled from your history, clear house rules, a secure checkout, and a real phone number. Guests book direct when the site feels as safe as the platform.

Add-ons and upsells

Early check-in, late checkout, pet fees, cleaning, and local extras offered during checkout, priced and paid in the same transaction.

Guest messages and check-in details

Booking confirmations, pre-arrival details, door codes, and checkout reminders sent on schedule, or handed to the messaging tool you already use.

Area guides that rank

A page per destination and neighborhood with things to do, so the site can rank for "vacation rentals in" searches as well as your brand name.

Owner and team dashboards

Bookings, revenue by home, and direct versus platform share in one place, with owner logins for the homes they own.

The guest's path

How a guest moves from search to a direct booking

Each step is a chance to lose the guest back to a listing site. The website's job is to make every one feel easy and safe.

Step 1

Find the home

From Google, a repeat-guest email, or a destination page.

Step 2

Check the dates

Real availability for their exact stay.

Step 3

See the full price

Nightly rate, fees, and taxes shown before checkout.

Step 4

Trust the site

Reviews, house rules, and a secure checkout.

Step 5

Book and pay

Instant booking with a deposit or full payment.

Step 6

Come back next year

A direct relationship you own, not the platform.

Our approach

How we run this engagement

01

Discovery

Look at where your bookings come from today, which channel manager holds your calendars, and what guests ask before they book.

02

Design

Wireframes for the home page, property page, search, and checkout, reviewed before anything is built.

03

Build

Pages, the channel manager sync, and checkout, with preview links you can test as we go.

04

Launch and grow

Go live, connect analytics, and use real booking data to improve the pages that bring direct stays.

Tech we use

Built on a proven, modern stack

Next.js

Fast property and destination pages that search engines can read.

Python/Django

The backend for properties, bookings, fees, and owner accounts.

PostgreSQL

Stores homes, rates, bookings, and guests.

Channel manager APIs

Hostaway, Guesty, OwnerRez, and similar tools for calendars, rates, and reservations.

Stripe

Takes deposits and balances and handles refunds.

Mapbox

Maps for search results and destination pages.

Vacation rental website design questions

How much does vacation rental website design cost?

It depends on the number of homes and what the site has to do. A site for one or two homes with a booking widget is a small project, while a portfolio site with live search, instant booking, and owner logins is a bigger build. Our simple websites start from $500 and web app MVPs from $1,000, and our app development cost calculator gives a first range before a short call.

Should I use a vacation rental website builder or a custom site?

A vacation rental website builder, often included with your channel manager, is enough for many hosts with a few homes. A custom site makes sense when you manage a large portfolio, want search and checkout your way, need owner dashboards, or want pages that rank for your destination.

Can you build one of those websites like Airbnb for my own rentals?

Yes, in the sense most hosts mean: search by dates, photos, reviews, instant booking, and payment, all for your own homes. If you want many independent hosts listing on your platform, that is a marketplace, which is a larger build with host accounts and payouts.

Will the site stay in sync with Hostaway, Guesty, or OwnerRez?

Yes, as long as your channel manager plan includes API access, which the main ones offer to their customers. The API key comes from your own account, and we build the sync on top of it. Availability, rates, and new bookings sync both ways, so a night booked on your site is blocked everywhere else and the reverse.

How do you get guests to book direct instead of on the big platforms?

Make the site as trustworthy as the platform and give guests a reason to switch: a lower total price without platform fees, perks for repeat guests, and fast answers. Then make sure past guests can find you, through email and a site that ranks for your destination.

How long does it take to launch?

A first version can go live within a few weeks. The full timeline depends on how many homes, integrations, and owner features you need.
